The LeicestershireLive Business Awards are renowned for not only giving successful businesses a deserved chance to shine, but to also give smaller companies a share of the limelight.
New companies continue to open their doors in the region and at this year’s upcoming awards these smaller businesses will have a chance to be recognised. The ‘Small Business Growth and Development Award’ will be presented to a company who employ up to 50 members of staff and have excelled in their field. As well as this they will have shown exciting development plans for the future.
Offering their support of category sponsors of this award is leading engineers and manufacturers Michael Smith Switchgear.
Established in 1985 the business creates LV Switchgear and control gear systems for customers in a range of industries.
Located on the outskirts of the city the firm are passionate about giving back to the regional business community.
Sean Smith is one of the company’s Directors and talked about why this category caught their eye.
“We came on board as a category sponsor to celebrate the outstanding achievement and great successes of small businesses in our region.”
As category sponsors it will be down to the team at Michael Smith to sort through the list of nominees and decide on the three finalists and category winner.
Fellow Director Emily Smith explained what they will be looking out for from the winners of this award.
“We are looking for our winner to have achieved continuous growth over their years. They will also display a passion and professionalism which sets them apart from other businesses in their market sector,” she said.
“In our experience the main skills required to be successful in a small business is the commitment, drive and determination to succeed and adapt in an ever-changing difficult marketplace and economic climate.”
The awards will return to Leicester in April at the city’s Maher Centre venue where companies of all sizes and from a range of industries can enjoy their moment in the spotlight.
Nominations will draw to a close on Friday 17th January following which the judges will begin their deliberations.
