X Factor winner Sam Bailey to perform at local business awards

From companies operating at the global level to those just starting out, the LeicestershireLive Business Awards are renowned for welcoming star performers from the local business community.

But this year’s edition of the event will also welcome an altogether different kind of local star, with X factor winner Sam Bailey set to provide the entertainment.

Leicester girl Sam rose to fame in 2013 when she won the popular talent show, scooping a recording contract with Simon Cowell’s Syco records along the way. A Christmas number one single, Skyscraper, soon came her way and her debut album The Power of Love also went straight to the top of the charts.

Since appearing on the show, Sam has also displayed her acting talents appearing on stage in hit shows, such as Chicago, Fat Friends and Vampire Rock, and has become a regular on the pantomime circuit, recently appearing in the De Montfort Hall production of Aladdin.

This year, the LeicestershireLive Business Awards return to the city’s premier venue, the Maher Centre, on 23 April. The Centre has long been a favourite of the local community with families and businesses choosing it for weddings, conferences, private parties and Christmas events.

Close to Abbey Park and just a short distance from the city centre, the venue is accommodates up to 2,000 guests and features state-of-the-art technology, such as large projectors and plasma TV screens.

Sam is not the only famous face in attendance at the awards, with dynamic hosts Mark Dolan and Emma Jesson ensuring proceedings run smoothly.

Mark is a comedian perhaps best known for his work on Channel 4’s Balls of Steel. He has performed his stand-up routines at some of the most prestigious venues in the UK and, in recent years, has become an established event host, taking charge of events up and down the country.

Emma Jesson is no stranger to hosting regional awards ceremonies either. The TV weather presenter, who has fronted weather coverage for ITV in the Midlands, the north of England and Scotland and worked as a voiceover artist, has hosted scores of comparable events in the region.

With such a professional pair in charge and with Sam Bailey topping the entertainment bill, the LeicestershireLive Business Awards will be a night to remember.

Nominations are now closed but for more information on the awards visit the dedicated website https://leicestershirelivebusinessawards.co.uk/home
